The Bouwinvest Residential Fund has acquired 48 sustainable apartments in Zeist on the eastern outskirts of the city of Utrecht, from Dutch real estate developer Slokker Vastgoed. The majority of the apartments, part of Project Light & Air, will be priced at mid-market rental levels.

The Light & Air development, consisting of 70 apartments spread across three buildings, is located in the forested area of Kerckebosch to the southeast of Zeist. A large portion of the existing homes in Kerckebosch are being demolished, freeing up space for 800 to 1,000 new dwellings. A good mix of different types of housing and price ranges is aimed at creating an attractive neighbourhood for young and old.

The acquisition is an excellent fit with the objectives of the Bouwinvest Residential Fund in the area of affordable and sustainable housing. The apartments vary in size from 55 sqm to around 104 sqm and 44 of the 48 apartments acquired will target the mid-market rental segment. All the apartments are being built in accordance with sustainable and energy-efficient methods.

The project will be delivered in phases between 2020 and 2021.
