The Bouwinvest Residential Fund is investing in the development of 90 apartments on the terrain of the former Simon Stevin army barracks in Ede, 70 kilometres east of Amsterdam. The project is part of the Veluwse Poort development area, where the Residential Fund has already made an investment on the terrain of the former Elias Beeckman barracks.

Located in the heart of the Veluwe nature reserve, the Simon Stevin project is being developed on the eastern outskirts of Ede close to the Ede-Wageningen train station, the A12 and A30 motorways and within walking distance of convenience stores. The apartments vary in size between 87 sqm and 132 sqm divided across three buildings. The apartments will be rented out in the free rental segment, with 20 in the mid-range rental segment.

Michiel de Bruine, Director Dutch Residential Investments at Bouwinvest, said: “Thanks to its excellent location and great accessibility, Ede is an attractive place for many people. What has been lacking is a wide range of free sector and mid-range rental properties while demand is strong. I am therefore very pleased that we will be able to add a total of more than 154 homes to our portfolio in Ede with the Simon Stevin and Elias Beeckman projects."

De Bunte Vastgoed is the developer of the project and builder Bouwbedrijf Van Grunsven is responsible for the turnkey delivery of the buildings. The project is scheduled for completion between the final quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021.
