Bouwinvest has received the ‘MSCI European Property Investment Award for best performing specialist fund in the Netherlands’ in 2019 for its Dutch Retail Fund. This is the second year in a row the Retail Fund has achieved the highest total investment return, compared with the portfolios of all other institutional real estate funds in the Dutch market analysed by the benchmarker.

The Retail Fund achieved an annual average total return of 6.8% over the past three years to December 2019, resulting in a relative outperformance of 3.5% over the MSCI index.

Collin Boelhouwer, Director Dutch Retail Investments at Bouwinvest, said: “Just like last year, we are proud to receive this award in a very challenging market, which is a big compliment for the Bouwinvest Retail Fund team. Our clearly focused investment vision has once again resulted in a stable retail portfolio with above average performance.”

The Bouwinvest Retail Fund invests in assets in the Dutch retail real estate market over the long term on behalf of institutional investors and has a clear strategic vision based on three distinct pillars: targeted segmentation, optimization and sustainability. The fund focuses on the best retail cities and busiest high streets (Experience) and on neighbourhood shopping centres for daily groceries (Convenience). The goal of the Retail Fund is to grow to € 1.1 billion in assets by 2022. The fund is one of the most sustainable Dutch retail real estate funds with a GRESB rating of 4 stars.
