Bouwinvest’s Retail Fund has expanded its portfolio of convenience retail properties with the acquisition of the Schuytgraaf neighbourhood shopping centre near Arnhem. Opened in 2017, the mall is located in the fast-growing suburb of Schuytgraaf to the southwest of the city and comprises approximately 6,300 sqm. In addition, Bouwinvest has agreed to forward-fund a planned extension totalling around 2,500 sqm which is already largely pre-let to discount supermarket chain Lidl and a Kruidvat pharmacy.

The Schuytgraaf shopping centre comprises 21 units with a wide range of formats including supermarkets Albert Heijn and Lidl, a Hema department store, an Etos pharmacy and a Zeeman textiles store. The shopping centre has good accessibility, ample parking space and is within walking distance of Schuytgraaf’s train station. A residential area with a wide range of amenities including schools, sports and healthcare facilities is located in the direct vicinity.

Almost all the shopping units have the highest possible energy label, all are connected to the district heating system while two of the three rooftops are clad with sedum. The expansion of the shopping centre is scheduled to be completed in early 2022 and will meet the growing need for a wide-ranging offering of convenience stores in the area.

The Retail team is proud to have been able to add the Schuytgraaf shopping centre to its (convenience) portfolio in the current challenging market.
