Bouwinvest appoints Eveline Steenbergen as new Managing Director World Trade Center Rotterdam

WTC The Hague and WTC Rotterdam team up to support a stronger Metropolitan Region

As of 1 July 2018, Eveline Steenbergen became the new Managing Director of World Trade Center Rotterdam. Steenbergen has fulfilled this position at the World Trade Center The Hague for four years and now takes on the management of WTC Rotterdam as well as WTC The Hague. Her appointment in Rotterdam embodies greater collaboration between the two World Trade Centers. It also reflects the active commitment of the property asset manager Bouwinvest, owner of both WTC locations, to a stronger Metropolitan Region Rotterdam The Hague and bridges two important business districts. The transformation of WTC Rotterdam is part of a master plan in which it will become the business heart of the city.

Eveline Steenbergen already held the position of Managing Director at WTC The Hague for four years. Not only was she there at the start of the building’s renovation, but she was instrumental in its entire transformation. A transformation which made WTC The Hague the business hotspot of The Hague.

Eveline Steenbergen, Managing Director says that ‘It is a wonderful challenge to unite these two lively business communities and to facilitate the mutual sharing of knowledge. International business is in the DNA of both cities that, as the crow flies, are not even 25 kilometers apart. We are closing the gap between Rotterdam and The Hague and are creating the conditions for maximum cross-fertilization within the Metropolitan Region. I am enormously pleased about the developments that the WTC Rotterdam has undergone recently, and I cannot wait to be involved in its further development.’ 

Master plan in full swing
The appointment of Eveline Steenbergen as Managing Director of WTC Rotterdam is in line with the master plan that the building’s owner, Bouwinvest, has developed. Its long-term vision incorporates a strong element of sustainability. The renovations are already resulting in greater sustainability, as shown by the building jumping from the E energy label upwards to the A label. The successive renovations are being done thick and fast. Several floors of offices have been modernized, a new front desk is being created, and a new and expanded Business Center will offer business space to both people needing flexible office space and small businesses.

Success has also been seen in the rentals. Last year, an ‘Insurance Floor’ was opened in an entirely renovated floor of the high-rise. Rental contracts were closed with several leading insurance firms. After the floor opened, it soon attracted many related companies in the sector such as Starr Underwriting Agents Limited (Netherlands), Light and Onlyyard Shipyard Insurance. The Insurance Floor is such a success that it has expanded to another floor in the high-rise.

The doors of the Koffiesalon, a coffee maker’s concept that will be launched in Rotterdam for the first time, will open in fall. And De Bunk’r, the in-house city gym occupying more than 1,100 m², will also open after summer. Preparations are also underway for a 200 room hotel in the future.
