Institutional Real Estate Investment manager Bouwinvest has agreed to purchase 70 affordable mid-rental sector studio apartments. They are being built by developer groups M.J. de Nijs Projectontwikkeling and Smit’s Bouwbedrijf, in eastern Amsterdam’s IJburg district, which is a relatively new neighbourhood constructed on an island of reclaimed land.

The project called IJburg 1B, is being built on the tip of the island closest to the centre of Amsterdam. The building consists of 125 studios averaging 46 sqm in surface area, 70 of which are being acquired by Bouwinvest, while the other 55 units are intended for private sale. The rental studios will feature high-quality finishings and rental rates will be no more than €800 per month. There are a wide range of local amenities close to the site and it has excellent access to Amsterdam’s main ringroad nearby and is only 10 minutes by tram to the centre of the city.

Michiel de Bruine, Director Dutch Residential Investments at Bouwinvest said: “Bouwinvest invests in Amsterdam for the long term and we aspire to keep our rental housing projects in the city accessible for all layers of society. These homes are very well suited for starters, a group that is struggling to find housing in the capital where the market is struggling to balance very high demand for accommodation with limited supply.”

De oplevering wordt verwacht voor het tweede halfjaar van 2018.
