The Bouwinvest Healthcare Fund, Vorm/Porten Development and healthcare service provider Cordaan have signed agreements for the purchase and tenancy of part of the ‘Life’ healthcare complex in the Houthaven neighbourhood around Amsterdam’s old timber docks.

The building, named Life, was designed by Van Aken architects and is located at Houthavens 3B. Life will be completed in November 2019. The Bouwinvest Healthcare Fund acquired 24 care apartments in the liberalised rental sector, 940 sqm of facilities which include a restaurant, pharmacy, physiotherapist, GPs, common areas and home care services. Cordaan rents 48 spaces from Bouwinvest for people with high care needs. The target tenancy group consists of people with light to heavy care needs who wish to live independently for as long as possible.

“This complex is an excellent addition to our portfolio. This is a unique place in Amsterdam for our target tenants. Not only because of the beautiful Amsterdam School design of the building, but also because of the right mix of facilities. For us this is a blueprint for the development of further healthcare housing”, said Erwin Drenth, Director Dutch Healthcare Investments at Bouwinvest.
