Mark Siezen will succeed Dick van Hal as CEO of real estate investment company Bouwinvest as of 1 September. Van Hal (1958) has successfully led Bouwinvest for 14 years, following a career as director and investment manager at various financial institutions. Mark Siezen (1972) joined Bouwinvest as Chief Client Officer in November 2020.

Dick van Hal can look back on a rich career in the field of real estate investments. After working for several years as a director at Achmea Vastgoed, he joined Bouwinvest in 2008. Under his leadership, Bouwinvest opened up its Dutch real estate portfolio, added funds in new real estate sectors and listed investments, increased the sustainability of its portfolios and continued its internationalisation. Invested capital increased from €5.7 billion to €16.3 billion (Q1 2022), with €11.2 billion of this invested in the Netherlands and €5.1 billion abroad.

Dick van Hal: "This is a natural moment to hand over the baton. Covid-19 is behind us, we have set up client management, the risk management organisation is at a higher level and the real estate portfolios at home and abroad are in good shape. The planning cycle for 2023 starts this autumn and Mark can now take responsibility for that. As of 1 September, it will be time for me to strike out on new paths.”

"Dick has taken Bouwinvest to a new level and overseen its growth into a modern investment firm. We are very grateful for his long-term and passionate commitment to the company, its employees and its clients. It is also great to see that we can fill the CEO position via internal succession. Mark knows Bouwinvest’s direction and strategy. He will continue this, actively working on adding new product-market combinations to Bouwinvest's portfolio," says Jos Nijhuis, Chairman of Bouwinvest's Supervisory Board.

Mark Siezen has been Chief Client Officer at Bouwinvest since November 2020. In this role, he is the member of the Executive Board of Directors responsible for client relations and representing client interests in the Bouwinvest funds and mandates. He is also responsible for the funding and development of new products within Bouwinvest.

Mark Siezen has more than 25 years of work experience and has been responsible in various positions for both organisations and real estate portfolios in the Netherlands and abroad. Before joining Bouwinvest, he was Executive Director and member of the Board at CBRE Nederland, and prior to that he held various executive positions at companies including Multi Corporation and COFRA Holding. Mark has an MSc in Technical Earth Sciences from Delft University of Technology and an MSc in Construction Project Management from Reading University. Mark is currently also a member of the Supervisory Board of the Noordwest Hospital Group.

"I am really looking forward to leading Bouwinvest into its next phase of development and growth as CEO," says Mark Siezen. "The uncertain market conditions will create a number of challenges but will certainly also create opportunities for Bouwinvest and its clients. I personally identify very strongly with our purpose, ‘Real Value for Life’, and am convinced that it will enable us to create value for our clients, for the communities in which we invest and for a more sustainable world. With its experience, track record, strong governance and scale, Bouwinvest is uniquely positioned to offer its clients real estate investments that align with their goals of creating stable financial, environmental and social returns."

Effective 1 September, Bouwinvest's Executive Board of Directors will consist of the following members:
Chief Executive Officer: Mark Siezen
Chief Financial & Risk Officer: Rianne Vedder
Chief Investment Officer Dutch Investments: Allard van Spaandonk
Chief Investment Officer International Investments: Stephen Tross
