The Bouwinvest Retail Fund has acquired a supermarket in Renkum from Strada Vastgoed Renkum B.V. The supermarket, with approximately 1,700 m2 of floorspace, has been leased on a long-term basis to the Plus supermarket chain.

Collin Boelhouwer, Fund Manager of the Bouwinvest Retail Fund, stresses the importance of this investment: “Last year, we strengthened the Convenience share of the Retail Fund portfolio with the acquisition of two shopping centres. This investment is a great addition to that. The supermarket is sustainable, has a growing catchment area and is on a long-term lease to a stable supermarket organisation.”

Future-proof

The retail property in Renkum is a relatively new building dating from 2010 and is part of the centre of Renkum, with a total of 43 retail units. There are ample free ground-level parking spaces available directly behind the Plus supermarket. Moreover, the building has a good connection to the nearby Rijksweg trunk road. The supermarket attracts visitors from both Renkum (approximately 9,000 inhabitants) and nearby Heelsum (approximately 3,400 inhabitants). Both towns are expected to see population growth in the coming years.

Focus of Retail Fund

The Bouwinvest Retail Fund aims to invest the capital of institutional investors in the Dutch retail market with a long-term perspective. The fund focuses on the best shopping cities and busiest shopping streets (Experience), as well as district and neighbourhood shopping centres for daily shopping (Convenience). With five stars in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), the Bouwinvest Retail Fund has been among the top 20 percent of the best-performing real estate funds worldwide on the sustainability front for many years.
